HVGA was the only resolution supported in the first versions of Google Android, up to release 1.5.[72] Other higher and lower resolutions became available starting on release 1.6, like the popular WVGA resolution on the Motorola Droid or the QVGA resolution on the HTC Tattoo.


An early consumer WQXGA monitor was the 30-inch Apple Cinema Display, unveiled by Apple in June 2004. At the time, dual-link DVI was uncommon on consumer hardware, so Apple partnered with Nvidia to develop a special graphics card that had two dual-link DVI ports, allowing simultaneous use of two 30-inch Apple Cinema Displays. The nature of this graphics card, being an add-in AGP card, meant that the monitors could only be used in a desktop computer, like the Power Mac G5, that could have the add-in card installed, and could not be immediately used with laptop computers that lacked this expansion capability.


The 1080 and 720 in 1080p and 720p stand for vertical screen resolution, or height, in pixels. The more pixels there are in an image, the clearer it will be. As such, a screen resolution of 1920x1080 (two million pixels when multiplied) should appear twice as sharp as a resolution of 1280x720 (fewer than one million pixels). Meanwhile, the p in 1080p and 720p stands for progressive scanning, which updates full frame images more quickly than traditionally interlaced content.


Modern smartphones, like the iPhone 5c/5s, the Samsung Galaxy S5, and the HTC One, tend to film at 1080p quality and at 30 frames per second, if not better. Again, resolution is not all there is to picture quality, but for the average user, modern smartphones' video recording capabilities have the potential to be just as good for casual video-making as cheap camcorders.


Screen resolution can be especially important in video gaming. Because there are more pixels in 1080p, less anti-aliasing is required for a smooth visual experience. This means that 1080p will not only likely look better than 720p, but will lead to a better gaming experience overall, as anti-aliasing can slow down a console or computer.


Huntington's disease (HD) is an inherited disorder that causes nerve cells (neurons) in parts of the brain to gradually break down and die. The disease attacks areas of the brain that help to control voluntary (intentional) movement, as well as other areas. People living with HD develop uncontrollable dance-like movements (chorea) and abnormal body postures, as well as problems with behavior, emotion, thinking, and personality.


Most people have fewer than 27 CAG repeats in their HD gene, so they are not at risk for the disease. People who have CAG repeats in the middle range (27 to 35) are not likely to develop the disease, but they could still pass it on to future generations. People with HD may have 36 or more CAG repeats.


To get the most out of your 4K TV, you need 4K content. Fortunately, there's 4K content everywhere. Most of the major streaming services, like Netflix, Amazon, iTunes and Vudu all have 4K available. There are also Ultra HD Blu-ray players and gaming consoles, like the PS5 and Xbox Series X. If you have a PC, many video cards from the last few years can render games at 4K, with varying degrees of success.


We're starting to see the roll-out of ATSC 3.0, now known as NextGen TV. With a NextGen TV tuner, or a TV with one built in, you'll theoretically be able to watch free 4K TV over the air. Just like the initial roll-out of HDTV at the turn of the century, it's going to be a while before 4K programming is common over the air.


There are also computer monitors that have unique resolutions like 5K (5,120x2,880) or ultra-widescreen 21:9 aspect ratios with crazy resolutions like 3,440x1,440. There are so many variations we couldn't hope to cover them all.


In the future, resolution might become irrelevant. Technologies like MicroLED separate size and resolution, so your future 50-inch bedroom TV will have a radically different resolution than the 100-inch living room TV, as opposed to now where they'd both be 4K with different size pixels. Thanks to advancements in video processing, though, this won't matter. They'll all look sharp and detailed.


This is a false-color view of a planetary debris disk encircling the star HD 107146, a yellow dwarf star very similar to our Sun, though it is much younger (between 30 and 250 million years old, compared to the almost 5 billion years age of the Sun). The star is 88 light-years away from Earth. This is the only disk to have been imaged around a star so much like our own. The slight brightness on one side of the disk is due to the fact that small dust particles scatter more light when they are between Earth and the star, rather than behind the star. This suggests that the bright side is closer to us. The disk is redder than the star whose light it reflects, indicating that it contains grains one two-thousandth of a millimeter in size (about 100 times smaller than household dust).


Our Sun is believed to have a ring of dust around it, lying just beyond the orbit of Neptune, although it is ten times narrower than the one around HD 107146. Our solar system also has between 1,000 and 10,000 times less dust. The size of the ring, its the thickness, and the amount of dust make it unlikely that HD 107146 will ever evolve into a system like our own. This is interesting, as it shows that the planetary systems around the same kind of stars may have very different evolutionary paths.


The differences between High Definition (HD) 1080p TV and Ultra-High Definition (UHD) 4K TV are striking. The 4K picture is sharper with much more detail than the 1080p picture. The difference is even more striking if the 4K TV also supports HDR (High Dynamic Range). HDR pictures are brighter than standard images and cover more of the color range that is visible to the human eye. The result is pictures that are more lifelike and which seem to pop off the screen.

An international team of astronomers has discovered a new Earth-like planet, known as HD 40307g, that may be capable of supporting life and is located forty-two light years from Earth.A new super-Earth planet that may have an Earth-like climate and be just right to support life has been discovered around a nearby star by an international team of astronomers, led by Mikko Tuomi, University of Hertfordshire, and Guillem Anglada-Escude, University of Goettingen.


Astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope have made the first direct detection of the atmosphere of a planet orbiting a star outside our solar system. Their unique observations demonstrate that it is possible with Hubble and other telescopes to measure the chemical makeup of alien planet atmospheres and to potentially search for the chemical markers of life beyond Earth. The planet orbits a yellow, Sun-like star called HD 209458, located 150 light-years away in the constellation Pegasus.

The planet is a type of extrasolar planet known as a 'hot Jupiter'. Using the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, for the first time, astronomers have observed the atmosphere of an extrasolar planet evaporating off into space (shown in blue in this illustration). Much of this planet may eventually disappear, leaving only a dense core. Astronomers estimate the amount of hydrogen gas escaping HD 209458b to be at least 10 000 tonnes per second, but possibly much more. The planet may therefore already have lost quite a lot of its mass.


Both headsets have completely plastic exteriors, though the Sennheiser HD 450BT seems a tad more durable. Ultimately, the headsets are very similar. The Sennheiser HD 450BT is a mid-tier active noise cancelling headset that renders low-frequency noises half as loud with ANC enabled as when you disable ANC. While this change is audible, you can absolutely get better performance with other headsets that cost just a bit more like the Sennheiser PXC 550-II. When using the headset outside, wind and noise from passing cars were less pronounced but both sounds remained distinctly audible. 041b061a72
